TITLE: Thinking About Date Violence
GUEST: Kayomi Kurihara
|
|
This
is
the
second
in
our
series
on
domestic
violence
with
guest
Kayomi
Kurihara.
The
problem
of
domestic
violence
actually
begins
in
the
lives
of
many
couples
before
they
ever
get
married.
A
recent
survey
revealed
that
as
many
as
one
in
every
five
high
school
students
has
experienced
violence
in a
relationship.
In
this
program,
Mrs.
Kurihara
talks
with
us
about
where
the
roots
of
this
serious
problem
lie. |

operates
a
shelter

Even
in
Japan,
domestic
violence
has
become
a
spreading
social
problem
that
can
no
longer
be
ignored.
In
this
program,
we
talk
about
life
for
the
women

TITLE: Wheelchairs of Hope
GUESTS: Mary Penner & Mitsuru Kawasaki
|
|
It's
been
reported
that
more
than
20
million
people
around
the
world
are
in
need
of a
wheelchair.
Unfortunately,
for
mostly
economic
reasons,
most
people
who
need
a
wheel
chair
can't
get
one.
For
that
reason,
the
non-profit
organization
"Wheelchairs
of
Hope"
was
founded
and
its
specialty
is
delivering
wheelchairs
to
folks
who
couldn't
otherwise
get
them.
In
this
program,
the
"movers"
behind
this
activity,
Mary
Penner
and
Mitsuru
Kawasaki,
talk
with
us
about
the
work
of
donating
wheelchairs
to
the
needy. |
