very Christian outreach has to make ministry focus an essential element when
limited time and human resources have to be be factored in. Harvest
Time Ministries has therefore been led of the Lord over the years, we
believe, to focus upon four major activities for which we daily seek His
guidance -- and unlimited provision: Television Production, Evangelistic
Meetings, Seminars and World Missions.
Up until now, our Television
Production activities have been designed to supply programming to the secular
TV stations we have contracted with around the country. However, with recent
technological advances, we're now able to use the Internet as a tool to make
our programming available to even more people, unhampered by the limitations
and expense of over-the-air broadcasts.
With our terrestrial
broadcasts, Harvest Time Ministries has always had the goal of
reaching the entire nation of Japan with our programming. However, this
Internet Television website has enabled us to go beyond that and create our
own network of explicitly Christian content which can reach speakers of the
Japanese language wherever they may live across the planet, 24 hours a day.
What's more, since all our programming posted on this site includes English
subtitles, a much larger audience of non-Japanese-speaking folks can also
enjoy what we have to offer.
This effort in no way lessens our commitment to producing high-quality
Christian programs for our regular broadcast audience on the terrestrial
stations through which we work. But this Internet TV Station project has
enabled us to by-pass many of the broadcast restrictions put upon us by these
secular outlets. The result is a greater and freer evangelistic outreach and
more convenient access to our programs for our regular viewers.
As always, we ask for our viewers'
financial support and for their prayers that we would make the absolute most
of this technology so as to reach more people with the saving message of Jesus
Christ.
Harvest Time Ministries,
Japan was founded by Rev. Kenichi Nakagawa in Tōkyō as a non-denominational,
evangelical Christian outreach ministry in January of 1986. The purpose of the
organization has always been to preach the Gospel to the Japanese people
through the medium of television. Terrestrial broadcasts began in April of
1986 with the airing of a 30-minute magazine-style program on six regional TV
stations.
In April of 1988, "Harvest Time" began
airing weekly programs for the Japanese-speaking people in Southern California
on KSCI-TV, channel 18 in Los Angeles. Broadcasts in Hawaii (KIKU-TV, ch. 20)
began in July of 1989. All programs aired in the U.S. are broadcast with
English sub-titles. Overseas, we have a U.S. office Torrance, California and a
tape distribution office in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Harvest Time Ministries
is supported by over 6,000 individuals and by more than 900 churches in Japan.
The estimated domestic viewing audience of the "Harvest Time" television
program is over one million per week.
