#925 | "My
Own Little Gourd-shaped Island" -- Hiroshi
Takei This week's guest is Hiroshi Takei, the former producer of a popular children's TV program in Japan that aired during the 1960s -- Hyokkori Hyōtan Jima ("The Unexpected Gourd-shaped Island"). After the program went off the air, Takei continue the work he started there by publishing a series of children's books, doing research in early childhood education, and lecturing as a college professor. However, when he found himself in the midst of particularly painful circumstances, he sought help at a local church. #926 | "The
Place That God Prepares For You" --
Makoto Hirano This week's guest is a publication editor, head of his own publication business, and the recently-published author of the book entitled, The Business Strategies of Seven Men Who Stuck by Their Convictions ("Shinnen o Tsuranuita Kono Shichinin no Bijinesu Senrayaku"). Earlier in life, Hirano and some friends ran a publishing business and even produced a best-selling book. However, this was followed by a situation where they got stuck with a large amount of returned goods and ended up going bankrupt. He got himself out of the publishing business then, but now the road back to that kind of work has opened up for him again. In this program, we talk with him about his book and about the secrets he learned about overcoming trials. |

Church and School Together, Part 1" -- Masahiro
& Kuniko Kina In this week's program, we pay a visit to the World Mission Christian School in Okinawa. The church operates the school, and their 120 students (elementary to high school levels) study together in a partitioned second-floor room. Their distinctives are character development based on the Bible and English-language instruction, and they are garnering public attention as a pioneer in Japan's fledgling Church-school Movement. We talk about all this with Rev. and Mrs. Kina, who serve, respectively, as church pastor and school administrator of the facility. (Re-broadcast) |

#929 | "2002
Spring Holy Land Tour #1: From Caesarea to Nazareth" This is the first of a series featuring highlights from Harvest Time's 29th Holy Land Tour in March of 2002. First, we look at the seaside city of Caesarea, built during Roman times. Here, some very costly excavation work has been going on lately. As we walk among the ruins, we get a glimpse of day-to-day life in that city's ancient past. We also visit Nazareth, the city where Jesus grew up, and see the cliffs from which the people of the town tried to throw Him after rejecting His messianic claims. (Rebroadcast) |

#930 | "2002
Spring Holy Land Tour #2: From the Sea of Galilee to the Hula Valley" This was the third day of the tour. After a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, we visited Capernaum, where Jesus often preached, as well as the location of the Sermon on the Mount and the Church of Peter's Primacy. In the afternoon, we spent some time bird-watching in the Hula Valley, north of the Sea of Galilee. It's said that from this area the largest number of migratory birds in the world can be observed -- a good place for considering the idea of harmony between man and Nature. (Rebroadcast) |

#931 | "2002
Spring Holy Land Tour #3: Up on Mt. Nebo" On this fourth day of the tour, we crossed the border near the Sea of Galilee and entered the country of Jordan. Standing on the top of Mt. Nebo (Pisgah), where Moses viewed the Promised Land just before he died, we, as well, took in the magnificent view of the land God promised to His people. We then traveled to the town of Madaba and took a look at a sixth-century mosaic map of the land of Palestine that makes up part of the floor of an ancient church. (Rebroadcast) |

#932 | "2002
Spring Holy Land Tour #4: Petra, Aqaba, and the Dead Sea" On this fourth day of the tour, we crossed into Jordan and stayed in the city of Petra. To view the ancient ruins, however, we had to travel by horseback. The ruins themselves were featured in the movie, "Indiana Jones: the Last Crusade." The imposing structures, gouged out of sheer rock, truly overwhelms a visitor's visual senses. What does ancient Petra have to say to people today? (Rebroadcast) |

#939 | "Tsuneyuki
Nakajima A to Z, Part 1" In this program we focus on the seven-year slump that pro golfer Tsuneyuki Nakajima went through until his stunning comeback in 2002. Golf fans, especially, will be interested in learning about the drama that went on behind the scenes during this time. We had an opportunity to sit down with him for an interview at the country club where he has begun training for this year's season opening and we'll be airing parts of that interview over the course of the next four programs. In this first installment, he'll be sharing with us about his first encounters with golf, about the tempestuous relationship he had with his hard-driving father, and about how he met his wife, Ritsuko. As a bonus, he even includes a free golf lesson for our viewers. |
