Chanwoo Jung Week
2
#977 "The World of Violinist Chanwoo Jung, Part 1"

In January of 2001, a South Korean exchange student and a Japanese cameraman lost their lives trying to help someone that had fallen off the platform and onto the tracks at the Japan Railways Shin-Okubo station. This incident greatly moved Chanwoo Jung, a South Korean violinist living in Japan at the time. As a memorial tribute to the two, he performed a solo mini-concert at the Shin-Okubo station. This became the event that eventually led him to Christ. In this program, this world-class violinist shares with us the story of how he met the Savior.
Chanwoo Jung Week

#978 "The World of Violinist Chanwoo Jung, Part 2"

This program continues our conversation with violinist Chanwoo Jung. After he became a Christian, he says, his entire frame of mind toward performing changed. As a Korean resident of Japan, Jung says that his long-term vision is now to serve as a bridge-builder between the Korean and Japanese people, as well as between North and South Koreans. In this program, he shares with us some details of that vision and also performs a beautiful selection, "The Imjing River," from one of his recent CDs.
Waichirō Taniguchi Week
4
#979 "The Bible's Great Human Relations Principle" -- Waichirō Taniguchi

At the end of last year, Jibikiami Publishers came out with the Japanese translation of the 1992 Gold Medallion Book Award winner, Boundaries, by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. After selling well over one million copies and garnering best-seller status in the U.S., the book immediately gained attention in Japan. In this program, we've invited Waichirō Taniguchi, chief editor of the Revival News, to talk about the significance of this book for the Japanese people. We talk with him to find out why he believes that the book contains the greatest single principle for creating satisfying human relationships and just what that principle is.
Jerusalem Week
5
#980 "2002 Spring Holy Land Tour #8: Jerusalem's Old City & the Garden Tomb"
This is the final program in the series. On this day, we visit Jerusalem's Old City and spend some time at the southern and western walls of the Temple Mount. Here, we get a glimpse of the Jerusalem of Jesus' day and think about the Jewish roots of our faith. To wrap up the tour, we visit the "Garden Tomb," a tourist facility that commemorates Jesus' burial site, and reflect upon His death and resurrection. (Re-broadcast)

#983 "A Biologist Speaks About Faith" -- Dr. Kazuko Andō

After her earning her Doctor of Science degree from Tōkyō University, Kazuko Andō studied in the U.S. for five years before returning to Japan to work at the Merrill-Dow Research Center, serving in such capacities as head of the biology section and overall head of the science department. Currently, she teaches and serves as head of the biology department at Kyōto International University. In this program, Dr. Andō shares with us about how she came to faith in Christ.
Evolution or Creation? Week

#984 "Evolution or Creation?" -- Dr. Kazuko Andō

This program is a continuation of last week's conversation with biologist Kazuko Andō. This time, our discussion topic is the Creation-Evolution controversy. Currently, compulsory education in Japan routinely presents the Theory of Evolution as the sole explanation for the origin of life on earth. In this program, Dr. Andō leads us through a comparative analysis of Evolution and Creationism from her viewpoint as a scientist.

This week's guest is an Iranian who, just a few years ago, came to Odawara City in Kanagawa Prefecture to plant a church which would serve as a haven of rest for the hearts of many. Ali Rejeaian was born in Iran in 1969, the youngest of eight children. However, his father died when he was only six months old, leaving his mother alone to raise the family. In this program, Ali shares with us about what happened to cause him to leave his Muslim faith and become a believer in Jesus Christ.

Last week's guest, Ali Rejeaian, is joined this week by his wife, Masumi, as we continue our conversation with him about his life in Iran and his subsequent conversion to Christ. Dr. Peter Blocksom Week

#988 "The Education We Need Today" -- Dr. Peter Blocksom

In Kyōto's Kyōtanabe City, there is a unique educational institution that specializes in an English and Japanese "dual-language approach" to learning -- Kyōto International University. In 1996, Peter Blocksom was teaching at the Japan campus of Phillips University. However, when the school closed down their Japan branch campus that year, Blocksom decided to take the remaining Phillips students and establish a completely new college for them. In this program, we visit the KIU campus and talk with Dr. Blocksom about the program he's trying to develop, which features limited student enrollment and a Western-style bilingual learning atmosphere.

Beth Shemesh Elementary School Week
1
#989 "A Message from the Holy Land #1"

This month marks the beginning of Harvest Time's 20th year of broadcasting. To commemorate this milestone, April's programming is the first in a series of teaching videos we shot recently in the Holy Land. This week's program features the landscape of the Elah Valley, the place where the young shepherd David fought with and killed the giant, Goliath (I Sam. 17). We'll take a look at David's secret for victory. We'll also be showing you a visit we made to an elementary school in Beth Shemesh and the wonderful time of cultural exchange we had there with some Israeli children.
Judean Wilderness Week
2
#990 "A Message from the Holy Land #2"

This program will feature the landscape of the Judean wilderness. Here, we'll learn about the meaning of the wilderness experience for Israel and also dig into the nature of Satan's temptation of Jesus in this very area (Matt. 4:1-11). It's a view that you'd definitely never see in Japan. You'll not want to miss this program.
Wilderness Tabernacle Week
3
#991 "A Message from the Holy Land #3"

Out in the Judean wilderness near Jericho, a full-size copy of Israel's ancient Tabernacle was constructed a few years ago. In this program, we visit the site and take a close look at what the Old Testament Tabernacle was really like and learn about its meaning and that of the objects connected with it. The life-size scale of things gives you a realistic sense of actually having been there with the ancient Israelites.
En Gedi Oasis Week
4
#992 "A Message from the Holy Land #4

Today's program was shot at the wilderness oasis of En Gedi, the place where David hid himself when he was being pursued by King Saul (I Sam. 24). In the program we hike around the En Gedi area and learn some details about desert oases. We also take a look at some of the things David thought about during his time here and give some thought to the idea of "territory" -- a concept about which humans seem to have an innate sense. Like the other programs in this series, today's video highlights some breathtaking scenery.
Hiroshi & Makiko Takei Week
5
#993 "By 'Resurrection Faith' Alone" -- Hiroshi & Mamiko Takei
This week's guests are Hiroshi Takei, the former producer of a popular children's TV program in Japan that aired during the 1960s -- Hyokkori Hyōtan Jima ("The Unexpected Gourd-shaped Island") -- and his wife, Mamiko. This is Takei's second appearance on the program and, in this episode, he and his wife continue with their story from the time they became Christians as middle-aged adults. Amazingly, Mrs. Takei's elderly father came to Christ chiefly as a result of believing in the reality of Christ's resurrection. As a highlight of the program, the Takeis share with us their parents' salvation stories. (Re-broadcast)
