Finally, we have a report from South Korea about how a Korean pastor and his Underground Railroad are helping people from North Korea escape to freedom.

  Even as a young girl, Kiyoko Kameoka was full of ideas and that gift has helped her become the originator of quite a number of unique fashion products. Most recently, she's created an original women's bag (which she calls "shoes-in-a-bag") and has started marketing it under the "Hymn'n" brand name. In this program, she talks with us about her faith and about some of the challenges she's had to face in life.

#1119 "The Teddy Bear Maker" -- Meena Shiraishi
 
This week's guest, Meena Shiraishi, has won numerous awards for her Teddy Bear craft creations. Shiraishi graduated from a well-known music school, but said she started getting interested in Teddy Bears shortly thereafter and joyfully discovered that this was to be her life's work. The first time she entered one of her works in a contest, she won a prize for it. Shortly thereafter, however, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In this program, we talk with her about that struggle with serious illness, the peace she eventually discovered in Christ and the joy of Teddy Bear creation. (Re-broadcast)

This week, our focus is on young people. First is a story about Rebecca Simpson, a young woman battling Leukemia who made a big impact for God upon the lives of her schoolmates. Then, we take you along with two intrepid "Travel the Road" missionaries who chronicle their journeys to remote places with a video camera. Finally, we have the story of Zach Hunter, a high schooler who helps lead a modern-day slavery abolition movement.

#1121 "Living With No Fear of Death" -- Dr. Jun Hosoi
  Dr. Jun Hosoi is the director of the hospice facility for the Vories Memorial Hospital in Ōmi-Hachiman City. While working as a surgeon, Dr. Hosoi himself was diagnosed with cancer and underwent treatment. Then, this year, largely the result of that experience, Dr. Hosoi published a book. In this program, we take you with us on a visit to the Vories Hospice and talk with Dr. Hosoi about hospice care and about his perspective on life and death.

#1122 "Hands that Play the Grace of God" -- Hideo Kobori
  With his home base in Kōbe, Hideo Kobori is a professional pianist who performs regularly in South Korea, Europe and the United States. As a college student majoring in music, Korbori was involved in an accident that damaged his left wrist. Medical professionals told him that he'd never play the piano again, but he proved them wrong by making an amazing recovery. In this program, Hideo Kobori performs for us in the studio and talks with us about his music and his faith.

 This week we visit the town where Jesus grew up, Nazareth. The present town of Nazareth is the largest Arab city in Israel. After talking about the current situation with the Muslims in Nazareth, we visit the Church of the Annunciation where the angel announced to Mary that she would be the mother of the Messiah. Once inside, Pastor Nakagawa leads the group in thinking together about the nature of Mary's faith.

A book entitled, A Pastor Unravels the Riddle of the Heart Sutra was recently published. The author and our guest for this program is Rev. Shōhei Yamato, pastor of Kyōto Bible Church and full-time lecturer at Tōkyō Christian University. In this program, we talk with Pastor Yamato about the similarities and differences between Christianity and Buddhism. We also look at some comparisons between the words of the Bible and the Heart Sutra, which is revered in Japan's Jōdo ("Pure Land") sect of Buddhism.

Miho Sensui worked for nine years as an actress with the Ongakuza Theater Company. However, after marriage and during her second pregnancy, she experienced some nervous system problems that precipitated a health crisis in her life. During this awful time, however, it was a Christian woman came to her aid. In this program Ms. Sensui shares with us about exactly what happened that led her to Christ.

 Nazareth is the town that Jesus grew up in and in this program, we show you the second part of our tour visit to Nazareth. After leaving the Church of the Annunciation, we pass through an Arab bazaar and come to an ancient synagogue, a striking reflection of Jesus' times and now known as the Synagogue Church. Inside, we stop and think about the meaning of the message Jesus brought to His people in that Nazareth synagogue so long ago.

Next, we bring you the story of Song Zhuang, a village in China that has become the home of a growing number of Christian artists. Our last story is from America and reports on a controversy about whether it's important for pastors to preach about the Doctrine of Hell in church.

#1129 "Poems to My Mother" -- Tadashi Ōishi
  Tadashi Ōishi lost his hearing when he was a child and suffered the unavoidable pain that deaf people who live in a hearing world go through. Ōishi says that he began to take the anger he felt at being bullied at school out on his mother. However, he eventually started going to church and, at the age of 46, he says he finally understood the meaning of the Cross of Christ. In this program, we feature some of the poetry that Ōishi published in a collection of his works, Quietly Listening. He talks with us about his mother and his faith in Christ. His comments are interpreted in sign language by Tomoko Iwasaki.

 Right in the middle of the city of Nazareth is a project called "Nazareth Village." Here, a non-profit organization has recreated what the village of Nazareth must have looked like 2,000 years ago in the time of Jesus, complete with actors who play the part of villagers going about daily life. It's a truly fun place to learn about the Bible. When we first arrive, we eat our noon meal -- a selection of foods that would've been common 2,000 years ago and prepared in the ancient way.

 This is the second part of our tour of "Nazareth Village." In this program, we take a look at the work of ancient farmers, carpenters, weavers and others. We also visit a olive oil press and a reconstruction of an ancient synagogue. There are so many rare and interesting scenes, you surely won't want to miss this program.

 This program is part of a series featuring scenes from some recent events in the U.S. that were put on to celebrate 20 years of Harvest Time broadcasts in America. This time, we focus on a charity golf tournament we hosted with pro golfer Tsuneyuki "Tommy" Nakajima as special guest. After an on-camera golf lesson for the participants, we sit down with Nakajima for an interview and he talks with us about life as seen from the perspective of golf. You won't want to miss this program and don't have to be a golf fan to enjoy it. (Re-broadcast)
